Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge that we are on land that has been inhabited, sustained, and cared for by the Tongva (Gabrielino) and Acjachemen (Juaneno) peoples since time immemorial.  Furthermore, we appreciate that their cultures, traditions and languages continue to thrive here, along with their ongoing struggles to protect their sacred sites.  It is with this understanding that we, the History, Social Science, and Ethnic Studies office endeavor to provide curricula that reflects the histories, joys and resilience of Indigenous peoples, along with other marginalized groups.
